Age of Ocean Floor Pretest
1. Where are the oldest parts of the oceans?
I think the oldest parts of the oceans are the parts right under the continents, because from the time the earth was created, there was the ocean and the lands, going more higher as the floors are added up. The floors are added up as the nature disasters like the earthquake and volcanoes. It means that where the nature disasters only happen on the lands which means the continents. So as the rocks, which soon become the continents, get more older and older, the older the oceans under the continents be.
2. Do the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian and Arctic ocean basins have the same age and patterns?
It's only my guess, but all of the oceans are all the same ages because the ocean was there from when the earth was created, and the name of the oceans were just named because of their location. The oceans are just same but only the names are different because the names depend on where they actually are. So all the oceans are the same ages, they were named like those after the continents drift because of the locations of the each parts of the ocean.
3. How does the age of the ocean floor compare with the age of rocks on the continents?
Well, the age of rocks are younger than the ocean floor because the ocean was there earlier than the lands were. Again, when the earth was created there was the ocean first, and then the rocks after something, whatever it is.
